We believe in LOVE at first MUSIC! All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children. They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

Music Together®: Certification Level I
I grew up in a family that sang and danced, not realizing this was a unique experience. When I took a workshop by the founder of Music Together, Ken Guilmartin, I was excited because he was advocating for my childhood experience, but with a research foundation. I immediately took the training so I could share the methods in my preschool classroom. This love for music and early childhood education evolved to opening Marsha's Music in January 2001. I continue to be amazed at the joy and learning that happens in our classrooms, in our Chicago families' homes, and in the Music Together family around the world.
Interests: live music and theater, growing orchids/plants, reading, and taiji.
P.S. In college Marsha was a biology major (studying songbirds), with a music minor. Marsha was a preschool teacher for eight years at The Nursery School at K.A.M. in Hyde Park.

I'm a musician, an educator, and a recent transplant to Hyde Park from Bloomington, IN. I have taught in both classroom and private music environments. In my classroom, I developed my own music curriculum for K-6th students and directed handbell ensembles for 7th-12th. Before moving to Chicago, I founded, owned, and operated my business, Indy Keys Music Studio, where I taught piano, voice, and ukulele lessons for students ages 3-70. As a part of my music studio, I directed multiple art and music camps, conducted workshops, taught group lessons, and organized recitals for my students.
My musical journey began at a young age. My early years were supported by a musical family and singing with my cousins and grandparents. I began piano lessons at age 7 and began singing in community choirs at age 12. My background inspired me to pursue music and education at Butler University where I earned a Piano Performance degree with an emphasis in Pedagogy. I've always been teaching, and my philosophy of pedagogy is continually changing and growing. Music Together’s principles have exactly matched my educational journey!
Outside of the classroom and studio, I enjoys cooking, yoga, playing board games with family, going on walks with my dog Remi, and going to the lake.

I grew up with a Suzuki-piano-teaching mom and understood the value of early childhood music education from a young age. When I had my first child in 2018 and wanted to make sure she was exposed to this topic, I discovered Marsha's Music and the Music Together program – this quickly became a beloved routine and I continued with my second child a few years later! I completed the Music Together training in Fall 2024 and I'm excited to join the team as a teacher this year. I also like to write my own songs, sing, play the drums, and produce music electronically. I also have a B.A. in computer science and linguistics and also work part-time as a computer programmer!

My wife and I heard about Marsha’s Music through various parents’ resources in the Hyde Park neighborhood, and everyone told us how much they loved attending with their children! We decided to enroll our baby in classes, and it’s been one of the best things we have done in the last year and a half to connect with other families with young children in the neighborhood. I am completely won over by Marsha’s approach to teaching and how free to experience rhythm and song and dance children are in class. I’ll be taking the training and hope to apprentice in the next winter session!
